Drawing Workshop - CLAIBORNE COUNTY

  • Cumberland Gap Region Tourism Association 613 Main St NEW TAZEWELL United States (map)

This workshop will take place on June 27, 28,29, 30, and July 1 from 1pm to 4pm each day. This workshop will be held at the Paul V. Hamilton Center for the Arts in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee.

Do you want to get better at drawing? Join Emily Taylor, local artist, and adjunct professor at Lincoln Memorial University for this 5-day workshop. In this workshop participants will learn the basics of drawing from observation and imagination, using a variety of drawing materials and subjects. To start, we will break down the act of drawing into some of its elements and then approach drawing through each different art element in turn: line, shape, value, and texture. We will then begin to use the elements together to complete some fully composed drawings. There will be a lot of quick studies and exercises in seeing and perception so students will keep an active sketchbook throughout the week. We will also look at many examples of drawings from the long history of this practice, from pre-historic times to the present. All levels of experience are welcome.

This workshop will be held at the Paul V. Hamilton Center for the Arts in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. This workshop is for participants ages 18 and older.

Scholarships are available.

Participants are required to follow the most up to date COVID-19 procedures from the university which can be found here: https://www.lmunet.edu/covid/index
