What to bring: your own cushion if you prefer it (there will be chairs and a few cushions) and a brown bag lunch. Narrow Ridge will provide water, ginger tea and snacks. $30 donation suggested, but all are welcome!
Judith Toy was ordained by the late Zen Master and mindfulness author Thich Nhat Hanh as a core member of his order in 1997. She and her late husband, Philip Toy, also ordained, founded three communities of practice, and led days of mindfulness, workshops and retreats in the US and abroad. She continues the tradition with Sunday morning Farmhouse Sangha Zoom gatherings. Judith is author of Murder as a Call to Love, which can be found on Amazon.
Barbara Carter has practiced and studied the Zen Buddhist tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh for many years. She ordained into his core community, the Order of Interbeing, in September of 2015 at Magnolia Grove Monastery in Batesville, Mississippi where she was given the name Chan Ky Phuong “True Legendary Phoenix.” She has been an active member of the Mountain Solid, Water Reflecting Sangha of Knoxville, Tennessee for many years and also enjoys participating with several practice communities in North Carolina. She is a mother, grandmother and has been a full-time medical paralegal for forty-five years in Knoxville, TN.
