Heirloom Seed and Story Exchange - CLAIBORNE COUNTY

  • Cumberland Gap Region Tourism Association 613 Main St NEW TAZEWELL United States (map)

Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum

Harrogate, TN

Get ready for spring and learn a little bit about our local agricultural history at the ALLM's first ever Heirloom Seed and Story Exchange! Along with the DeBusk School of Medicine and the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Museum is facilitating an exchange of heirloom seeds along with an exchange of family food and medicinal recipes made from those plants. The collection of both seeds and stories donated to the ALLM in addition to the seeds that you swap with others will serve to preserve and interpret the area's agricultural heritage.

Participants from East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Southeastern Kentucky are encouraged to attend. To participate, bring seeds to exchange and share, or copies of printed food and medicinal recipes. Tables in the Pioneer Village will allow you to sit and talk with other participants, exchange materials, or compare agricultural techniques.

As supplies last, the ALLM will also have informational materials, seed packets, seed catalogs, and bagging and labeling materials free of charge.

Contact natalie.sweet@lmunet.edu if you have questions.
