Interpretive hayrides and two towering water slides highlight this year’s annual Wilderness Road State Park Community Appreciation Day and Back to School Bash set for Saturday, August 3rd from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Community Appreciation Day and Back to School Bash offers guests activities such as:bounce houses, kids train rides, historical programming at Martin’s Station at just $2 per vehicle so everyone can come out and enjoy their state park.

A fun-filled Kids Fair will be conducted from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with games and activities. The Nature Center will be open as well, providing kids an opportunity to observe animal hides,
tracks, skulls and more. Special tours of the Karlan Mansion will begin at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., led by Frances Robertson Inwood, a descendant of the Ely family who built the home in 1878.

There will be inflatable water slides and an inflatable activity center to keep the kids busy and entertained throughout the afternoon. Train rides will be conducted for younger children 10 and
under beginning at 1:30 p.m. Take a tour around the park on a 20 minute hayride, see Martin’s Station from a unique
perspective and travel down the Wilderness Road. The hayrides will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Those interested in history will be in for a treat as the folks at Martin’s Station and the Native
Camp will perform various 18 th century demonstrations throughout the day. The 19 th Century Robinson Cabin will be open for public tours as well.
