Saturday, July 20, 2019, will be the final day that the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum is open until our new, 3.6 million dollar expansion goes into effect. Once the project begins, the Museum will be closed until late 2020. Over the course of its history, Lincoln Memorial University's museum has taken several forms; it once was a room in Duke Hall until a building to store the collection was supported by a generous matching donation by Col. Harland Sanders in 1977. In the summer of 2018, the museum added on the Kincaid Gallery, made possible by the estate of Hansel O. and Dorothy M. Kincaid. Now, two new galleries, an elevator, and a learning lab will be built into the museum, providing more opportunities to learn about and experience the life of Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and the founding of Lincoln Memorial University. As a result of the heavy construction, however, the Museum will be closed during the renovations.
The Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum invites the public to celebrate the role of the Museum within the community with a free party from 10am until 6pm on Saturday, July 20. Join us for a free day of fun activities!
