Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum
6965 Cumberland Gap Pkwy, Harrogate, Tennessee 37752
Not since June 8, 1918, has a path of totality for a solar eclipse cut across the United States from the Pacific to the Atlantic. On August 21, 2017, this event will occur again. If you are unable to make it to one of the spots where true totality will occur, we invite you to come to the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum to watch the partial eclipse in our backyard!
Visitors are welcome to gather in front of the museum throughout the day to watch the progression of the event. While you wait, your paid admission (at either the regular or group rate) to the museum will also provide you with the opportunity to make a card projector to safely watch the eclipse. Then, take a special, focused tour through our galleries to learn about how Abraham Lincoln was a man of science and invention. His forward-thinking led him to sign the Morrill Act of 1862, charter the National Academy of Sciences in 1863, encourage the creation of the Union Army Balloon Corps, and be the only President to also hold a patent in the U.S. Patent Office.
